Day 28 : Luging in Queenstown
Today, I luged – and it was cracking!
I’ll never tire of getting the Gondola up the hill. The views are spectacular from the top, I found myself not concentrating on the track half the time and just enjoying the scenery! I filmed a short part of it but it’s tricky controlling the vehicle at the same time without careering clean over the edge! 😀
Afterwards, I got some brunch. This :-O
I also booked a few things for the days to come – my bus tickets to Wanaka, a trip to Mount Cook on the Wednesday, Godzilla cinema ticket and an early evening boat cruise on Lake Wakatipu for Thursday. That *should* keep me out of mischief.
Steph (of Franz Josef fame) was arriving in Queenstown in the afternoon so we grabbed a drink and did a little shopping which was a riot. As much as I love the freedom of exploring the country alone, it’s always good to catch up with friends you’ve met along the way to share stories and have a giggle.
We grabbed some pizza and beer later and stayed in the rest of the night catching up on her travels. She sky dived the day before & had the exact same ‘Aaaargh!’ moment that I did just after leaving the plane 😀
Today was also the first day I had met Scottish folks since Katie in Taupo – no less than 4 of them popped up! Yas – no more explaining Dumfries was “South of Edinburgh but North of England” 😀
It’s amazing to think I’ll be back there in 7 days. I’ve only been away for month but it really feels like an eternity ago. Eyes opened massively and the travel bug has bitten me good & proper.
Really had the best holiday ever here – better than I could ever have imagined. Meeting amazing people and seeing amazing sights.
Kudos for staying the course faithful reader(s?) – this has been a fun way to keep track of what I’ve done in this beautiful country – hopefully you’ve enjoyed it too. I’ll run a wee competish thing next week – stay tuned! 🙂
